Saving Money Often Comes With Increased Risk, Is It Worth It?

Craigslist - Custom made electrical fires
I have a friend who’s an electrical contractor in Iowa. He wrote the following ad (click on it to enlarge) and posted it on Craig’s List. While the ad is a spoof and incredibly funny, it’s also sad because this is really what you can expect when dealing with uninsured and/or unlicensed trades people who are desperate in this economy.

While my friend makes his fictional electrician an intentional fire starter, who can control the location and size of his blaze, in reality these uninsured/unlicensed “hacks” unintentionally start fires.  What may seem like a simple or small repair can end up costing you everything.

Note: This ad is written for an electrician, but with just a few modifications it can be written for just about any trades person who can work on your home (i.e. plumber, roofer, painter, remodeler…). Be careful and consider the risks involved when letting these people work on your home!

Better yet – don’t let them work on your home at all!

Happy Holidays and Enjoy!
